A little bit of background
The winner of the south west heat of the Radio 4 National Poetry Slam 2009, Liv Torc was the 2010 Bard of Exeter and the poet in residence at Exeter’s first ever poetry festival (Oct 2010).
Liv performs her unique brand of 'razor blade skating' stand-up poetry all over the UK, at festivals, clubs, schools, colleges, parties, gigs and the occasional front room. Liv is also an honorary bard of the order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (OBOD), which has given her an international following.
The author of ‘Take Your Monkey and Get out of My Life’ and ‘Dancing Naked in Banana Land’, Liv has shared a stage with John Hegley, Murray Lachlan Young, Andrew Motion and Matt Harvey - working for Apples and Snakes, Phrased and Confused and with the Wondermentalist Cabaret.
At the moment
Liv is currently one of four national poets tasked with working on Dorset’s year long ‘Off the page’ poetry project, headed up by Elvis McGonagall and funded by the Dorset Library Services and the Arts Council. The aim of this project is to make performance poetry more widespread in Dorset and will culminate with a massive poetry festival in November.
On February 15th 2011, Liv appeared on the Wondermentalist Cabaret’s new Radio 4 pilot series, where she won the soon to be legendary ‘Dead Poets Slam’.
On March 12, 2011 Liv visited Germany and Austria on a three-date slam and performance tour with ‘Poetry in Motion’.
After a recent move to the Bath area, Liv and the veteran poetry performer Jonny Fluffypunk have plans to start their own cabaret nights in the area.
